Apple knows good photography

This very dramatic photo of the new iPod nano is a great example of creative photography. Definitely more interesting then just a product shot.

Adding a large unique photo can help your website stand out as much as the design of the site itself. A tad quirky, but definitely something you will remember - “It’s the site with the big fork”.
Looking for a gift, or a way to display your photos? If you’re using flickr then QOOP has developed a online tool using the flickr API to load your photos, view them, and send them off to get printed.
Nice looking books too.

You would think there are enough photos of cats out on the net, but Stuff on my cats.com has taken it to a new level. Not only are the photos creative, but very funny.
slower.net has a nifty little photo widget. Called the Flickr RSS widget, it’s a little button that when pressed pulls ten of the most recent photos from a Flickr RSS feed. This little button could be placed in a signature, your site, or anywhere you want.
Here’s what it looks like in action:

Cool!
CSSPlay has a creative (and easy) way to show your photos. Using pure CSS, and a very minimal amount of code you can create the following:

Just came across File Me Away, a blog by Josh - who I see is very close by in Plano, TX. The first thing you notice when visiting his site is the large striking image in the header of the page. This is a great way to draw someone into your site. No only does he change the images occasionally (always a good idea to change things up once and awhile), but he has a “previous photo” button to cycle through all the older header images.
An additional nice touch is how he integrates the name of his blog “File Me Away” into his images. Visit his blog and take a look.
Microsoft has a new photo sharing program called MicrosoftMax.
Quote:
Microsoft® Codename Max is not like any other product. That’s because it’s not a product—it’s your opportunity to try an exciting new user experience from Microsoft. Today Max lets you make lists of your photos and turn them into beautiful slide shows to share with your family and friends. Tomorrow…who knows?
Since my PC only gets dusted off to check out how my site looks in IE6, I’m not sure how well it works. But the website, product description and screenshots are very non-Microsoft like - and maybe a little Mac like? ;-)
Yum. delicious days is a food blog with a sense of style. Not only is the site well organized and designed, but the food photography is amazing. Every recipe is accompanied with a set of beautiful photos, showing you how your food should look (my cooking never looks this good…).
Make sure you’re not hungry, then check out delicious days.
design in-flight has a good (and very in-depth) article on low budget photography:
Who this is for: You: owner of a small design company, a seat-of-your-pants freelancer, or perhaps an under-appreciated intern in the marketing staff of a big corporation. You wish to improve what you can offer photographically for your projects, you might only own a mid-range consumer digital camera. Read on, this article is intended as a helpful starting point.
In the end it will only set you back $77 - not bad!
